Shopping for the Holiday

No You don't need it!

Seafolly Byron Kaftan
$59.95

Ok, Maybe you need some of it.  My friend Natalie is going to Fiji over Christmas, and for the past three months while we shop she says: "Oh that will be good for Fiji".

And she is not alone, Dress Me GC is heading poolside with her sisters, brothers in-law and 11 kids, for a bit. Only a bit - because on the first day we have Happy Hour that starts in the evening, the second day it starts at lunch time and if we stayed at third we would be having champagne breakfasts!

And yes I need kaftans, bikinis, towels, hats, champagne, rash shirts, more champagne, sunglasses....and the list goes on.  "Oh I could wear that at Peppers" is my catch cry!  Any excuse. Natalie and I get along well. http://www.sunburnswimwear.com.au/clothing/dresses.html?p=7

Birkenstocks: I am hoping to do a deal if we get enough buyers. $55 each pair. One word: Bargain!  There has been a good response so far - Thank-you. Don't delay. I will order them next week.

Oskars, Burleigh Heads.
Dress Me GC hit the shops today delivering lampshades. James Street in Burleigh Heads is well worth the visit.  Head to Oskars for lunch on the beach and then wander around the James Street shops. James Street has everything: awesome swimwear shops, Coast: very nice homewear shop, (the feral) Happy High Herbs shop, eco friendly shops with all the latest mod cons, banks, restaurants, butcher, fruit shop etc.... It's worth the visit.  Oskars is one of the best restaurants on the GC and is well worth the visit.  http://www.oskars.com.au/about.html

CR Tie Print
Bikini. $49.95
And I want these for my holiday:

But, I assume there will be ten of me in the same bikini.  The joys of shopping at Country Road.

And The Love of My Life will probably say: "Isn't it funny, there are 9 women here in a bikini they "have had for years"!

And I will sip my champagne and pretend I can't hear him!
Cheers.

Pre Christmas Sales

Witchery Singlet - back view
$39.95

Everyone has a deal.

Sales and Deals galore!  And it still about 26 days until the Boxing Day Sales start.  I don't really bother with the Boxing Day Sale as it's too chaotic and besides Boxing Day is a great day to spend with friends and family drinking the left over grog from Christmas Day - yes..yes..we do have leftovers!  Ok, there have been some years when someone has to do a bottle shop run, but that was because we didn't buy enough to start with.  Or we visit friends or neighbours who have left overs. The later is the best option!

Witchery Singlet - front view
$39.95
Back to shopping and deals.  Country Road has a deal, and what do I do? Go to Witchery and shop when they don't have a deal!

Witchery has a top that looks very plain and normal from the front and the back is like a cowl, with a small weight sewn into it to hold the effect. I have spent forever on the website looking for it to show you and can't find it. Check out my photos and ask in store.  I bought the sea foam colour (colour looks better in real life). It's not bad for $39.95. The top sits on the hips and is available in other colours. Marina Mirage only had the blue.   Speaking of Witchery Marina Mirage - Witchery Man will in store as of this week-end.

Fold Up Ballet
Flats in silver
$129.95
Still on Witchery and the Sea Foam colour, they have ballet flats that fold up into a cosmetic bag.  I know they sell them everywhere - even the Post Office at Marina Mirage sell them - but the Witchery ones are leather!  The Silver ones look great too.

Birkenstocks: There is a Website that you can order Birkenstocks for approximately $55 including delivery, but you need to order a few pairs to be able to get the deal.  If anyone is interested, please send Dress Me GC an email: dressmegc@gmail.com.

Shoes of Prey are offering a gift voucher of $20, so if you need to place an online order let me know and I can email you a $20 gift voucher.

NEXT Thursday I am going to Fingal to the Sheoak Shack to do a Basket Weaving Class.  Fingal is one of the most beautiful places in the world. It's just over the border in NSW as you head towards Byron Bay.

Do you think Dress Me GC Headquarters will have a groovy basket on the coffee table?  Or will The Love of My Life have another addition to the filing cabinet in his office that goes with the other 'special' pieces from the school P&C stall?

Thank-you for your company.  Dress Me GC is going to Burleigh and Robina tomorrow to deliver lamp shades and do some sneaky shopping, so if you are not going out on Friday night, I'll have some more shopping info, including gift and homewears.

Keep Calm and Shop On.

Retail Therapy

It fixes everything - well most things.  Wine fixes most things too, and so does coffee from Konc at Chirn Park.  Dress Me GC had coffee at Konc, and window shopped on the ipad, planning the impending shopping trip.

First stop was Country Road at Pacific Fair.  I need shorts, because apparently we have a few very warm days ahead. Thirty plus degrees they say. Bring it on I say! I love the warm weather.

CR Metallic Jeans $99-
Country Road has the Metallic jeggings like SABA and are cheaper.  I tried them on and they fit the same, which is good for the readers who didn't buy the SABA ones. At CR they are $99 - even cheaper if you are using a Spend and Save offer. By the way the Spend and Save finishes on Sunday 8th December.

Foil Trim Tank $ 59.99
The Foil Trim Tank is good too, but they didn't have my size.  I'll have to order on line or have a look in Brisbane when I head up there later in the week.

When I was Window Shopping, I couldn't remember my password and had to go through the whole password setup/email annoying thing again!  Don't you hate that?

Sometimes online shopping can be frustrating!

Roll up Shorts
$79.95
Roll up shorts are perfect. There are a few colours so I'm not sure what colours to choose?  Decisions, decisions.....  Word is stock is low on these shorts, so don't delay. http://www.countryroad.com.au/shop/woman

After shopping, it was decided to start the new blog site from scratch.  The frustration!  So please stick with me on this blogspot page - we are here for a bit longer!

Sparkling Ladies Racing Events has a lunch organised in January for the Magic Millions Racing Carnival. have a look: https://www.facebook.com/carolyn.waller#!/SparklingLadiesRacingEvents?fref=ts  Does anyone want to go?  Maybe Dress Me could organise a table?

I Just Want to CRY!

The Text from Doug.

One Whole Day Wasted!

That's right - wasted! I have spent ALL day trying to put pics/photos on the new blog, but have failed miserably.

There are two options.
1. Cry
2. Read the joke text Doug sent me last week and take it seriously.

I have taken both options! Tissues and wine are in hand and I am madly blogging - old style. Cheers.

Walking home from lunch. I love the GC!
Lunch last Friday was good. It was a little quiet as far as GC lunches are concerned, but we had a good table. What is it with loud music being played at these lunches? Maybe I'm old, but I can't hear anybody over the music! My lunch buddy picked me up on the way so when it came time to leave I walked outside only to find a long taxi queue, so off went the Mimco wedges and walked home along the beach!

I had my Country Road Dress on (bought it years ago), and I was walking along the waters edge, with my Jamin Puech clutch, and Mimco wedges in hand feeling fantastic! I love the GC. I'm sure people thought I was a schoolie (lol)!

Walking along the beach I passed a group of Japanese Tourists photographing each other and one of the ladies started screaming and I noticed she had blue bottle tentacles on her leg. Well, there were two good things about me being close by: the first was that I have been to Japan, (see previous blog: http://dressmegc.blogspot.com.au/2012/07/the-hijack-shopper.html) and the second was they couldn't speak English and I had had enough wine at lunch and my attempt to talk to them would have been very entertaining for anyone watching. I removed the tentacles from her leg and sent her to the lifesavers for vinegar.

Friday night was the ASD for Kids Cocktail Party at the Audi Centre.

ASD 4 Kids fundraiser.
It was great - one of the best events I've been to on the GC for a long time. There was a great crowd of people and it was so nice to see everybody so beautifully dressed.  Thank-you to everyone involved - It was so much fun!

It's funny how we buy new clothes for functions and when the time comes we put our old favourites on. I ended up wearing a Lisa brown Tulle top that my sisters bought me for my 40th Birthday. I teamed it with black Witchery pants, Seed Femme black heels, and silver accessories. It was comfortable, and appropriate.

Thanks for your patience  - because I have NONE! Check out the new site if you feel like it.  www.dressmegc.com I am very frustrated with it. The IT Dept has done a great job of transferring old blogs and doing all that technical stuff, but it looks a bit boring and there is still along way to go, but the good news is, it can only get better!

Special Thanks to Anna and Kimmy (look at me!) for sharing Dress Me GC on Facebook EVERY day. You are good people. Thank-you.

I need more tissues and wine.

Dreaming

Maybe One Day..

Rochas Sleeveless
Top $646.30
The email came through from FarFetch offering FREE global shipping (22-26th November) for all orders.  Immediately I started browsing through the website.  I have mentioned FarFetch before and they stock the nicest clothes, however as far as Retail Therapy goes, it is basically window shopping only.  Most items are up there in price, and I can see why - their stuff is very cool.  Hence the heading "Dreaming".  One Day...

CR Georgia Sandal
$59.95-
FarFetch was mentioned in a previous blog:  "Swimmable Underwear" http://dressmegc.blogspot.com.au/2012/10/swimable-underwear.html when I mentioned the Todds Brogue Boots. Yes I still want them!  Everything I like on FarFetch is basically well over the $500 mark. Far Fetch: http://www.farfetch.com/shopping/women/rochas-sleeveless-top-item-10264719.aspx

Back to Realistic Shopping for Dress ME GC and what a better place to start than the Country Road Spend and Save.  I have $800 to spend in the next 6 weeks to keep my VIP status.  I'm not so sure that will be happening, unless of course I can convince my three boys that Santa won't be delivering Surf Boards, he'll be gifting clothes instead! As if!

I bought a couple of pairs of the Georgia sandal in the last Spend & Save and they are comfortable and a good buy. Yes they are everywhere, but so are havianas.

Decisions.
Which dress for
Corporate Lunch?
CR lace or Lisa Brown?
The Corporate Christmas Lunch is on today and as usual I am in a flap. Between writing this blog, getting 4 kids to school, cutting out lampshades, delivering lampshades and working out what to wear sometimes I wonder why I agree to go - Until I get there and have a great time!

Ph: 55 711361
As I have mentioned before, Ironing Plus at Chirn Park is my saviour.  They are owned by Neweys Dry Cleaners, who I have been using for over 15 years. It's so good to have all my clothes ready to go in the cupboard. http://www.ironingplus.com.au/index.html

The ASD 4 Kids Fundraiser is on tonight and my friend Sheryl tells me it's a cocktail party and she will also be there - fantastic!  I'll work out what to wear after lunch.  Maybe the sequin jacket I bought from Toscana?  See previous Blog: 10,000 Plus! http://dressmegc.blogspot.com.au/2012/10/10000-plus.html.

Toscana has a Timber Christmas Tree on Display in store. Pop in a have a look.  Toscana: Thomas Drive, Chevron Island. Ph: 5538 3330

The new website is still a work in progress - I'm hoping to start blogging from there on Monday.

Peplum

SABA Grace
Spliced Dress
$299-

Are you over it?

SABA Island
Print Dress
$299-
I am. It's like the fluro - It's everywhere!

Unless of course it's worn properly.  SABA's grace spliced dress, and Island Print Dresses are beautiful and are how Peplum should be worn.

My general rule is to avoid most of the current 'trends' and 'fads' as I always feel like a fashion 'try hard'.  Seed Femme had peplum tops that were just wrong, and that's saying something, because I love Seed Femme.

Except of course if you do it properly with these SABA dresses:  If you are interested in purchasing the 25% off at SABA ends today.

Click Frenzy seems to be the Buzz word at the moment for online sales.  Has anybody used it? There seems to be alot of negativity surrounding it as there was an overwhelming response to the BIG sale, and it crashed. What's everyone thinking?

Witchery Spliced
Scuba Dress $149-

Witchery and Madison Magazine

have collaborated and "crafted an exclusive summer capsule collection" and and I'm liking it.  The Spliced Scuba Dress is HOT! I LOVE LOVE LOVE!  I haven't seen it on, but I'm thinking it's not for people like me who have had four kids and have a bottom to prove it!  At $149- It's not a bad price either.  I will have a look at it though!

The scarf print pant looks good too. They are $129-95 and look comfy, although some times these style pants can make your legs look larger than they really are.  I love the print and would wear them with sandals/slides and a singlet top. The whole collection is good. It's worth looking at.

The ASD 4 Kids function at the Audi centre this Friday night, has no mention on the invite of what sort of function it is and what the dress code is?

I'll go and see my good friend Sheryl today and ask her - she will know.  Sheryl will be working at Toscana today so it will be an added bonus to see her! lol!

If anyone wants to go, I'm sure it's not too late to RSVP.

High 5 for Top 5.

15,000 views and counting...

Thank-you for reading Dress Me GC.
I thought I'd list the top five blogs.  It's fascinating what you like, what you don't, and how much you all love to shop!
No wonder we get along so well!
Dressed for a
day at the Polo.
Dress Me GC has some loyal followers all over Australia, and the world for that matter - hello Japan and NZ.  There are also heaps of page views from the U.S and Russia.
Here's a loyal Sydney follower at the Polo on the week-end. I'm loving this outfit for the Polo.  Sportscraft signature classic linen blazer in ivory.  Country Road Silk Snake Print Pants, Black Betty Basics Veronica tank,  and teamed with the Country Road Nikki Snake Wedge, Aviator Sunglasses and glass of champagne.  Great outfit - perfect for the Polo.   We hope you had a fun day.
The new web site is slowly taking shape, although I'm not very good at working it! The IT dept is very patient with me and my questions!  It's actually bloody hard and very different to this page, but I am learning.  Thanks for your patience.
Don't forget that Underwear of Sweden is offering a 20% discount on orders AND free shipping! Don't delay - get your orders in - you won't be disappointed.  See previous blog: "Plastic Shoes" http://dressmegc.blogspot.com.au/2012/11/plastic-shoes.html to get the details on how to order.
Coles Mix is offering $15 discount on orders over $50 with free shipping for tonight (tue) only.  They have some nice cardigans in stock at the moment - plain ones in great season colours, and priced really well.
FRIDAY is shaping to be a very big day/night.  The Corporate Christmas Lunch is on at Bazaar at QT in Surfers, then there is the ASD 4 Kids cocktail party at the Audi Centre that night.  Unfortunately I am going to have to ditch the pushie (remember "Withdrawl Symptoms": http://dressmegc.blogspot.com.au/2012/09/withdrawl-symptoms.htm ), and drive my car to lunch so I can go to the ASD 4 Kids function and speak coherently.
Not sure what to wear to either function and my Lifesaver and BFF Neighbour is already texting me about what we are wearing! lol!  I don't envy her - she's got some school Christmas Carol Concert before the Cocktail Party. She will definitely need a cocktail or two after that!

Is: Kerri Alderson.  Congratulations Kerri. Contact Dress Me CG HQ via email: dressmegc@gmail.com to claim your new swimmers to the value of $100 from Underwear of Sweden.

No doubt you will enjoy your Swimmable Underwear. Here's the link to help your choose your new swimmers. http://underwearofsweden.com.au/home/

The draw took place this morning at Dress Me GC Headquarters.  Thank-you to the followers. There are more competitions coming soon so you never know...you may be our next winner!

The Birthday Party at Byron Bay was out of this world.  It was so much fun.  I haven't been to a party like that in years. We all had a great time - there were people dancing on kegs!  And no I didn't drink enough water, but I was never going to was I? There is a photo though that proves I did try.

Nice to see Lisa Brown
fashion at the Brewery.

Wore my CR coated jeggings and the louche top from Toscana. Can you tell I'm loving that outfit?  There was a smattering of fluro, and loads of jokes from the boys about girls wearing "high viz vests".  I put my $2 poncho on when it rained an everyone was horrified! I can't see the issue? What do you think? Is the $2 poncho a no go? It was clear plastic.

Zimmerman Wayfarer
Lattice Sun Dress
$550-
Spotted this Zimmerman Dress in Brisbane last week. Wayfarer Lattice Sun Dress.  It is so pretty.  It's available in black and white as well.  http://www.zimmermannwear.com/collections/swim-and-resort/clothing/dresses-coverups

There is heaps happening this week so stay tuned and congratulations to Kerri. Thanks for following Dress Me GC.

Love Affair

With Saba

Have you been to a SABA Store lately? Do yourself a favour and have a look - or jump online. Their clothes are really good, their accessories are fab, and the pricing is pretty good.

Saba Vanessa Top
SABA's range of clothes gets better and better as the new stock hits the shelves and the fabrics are nice and the quality is good.  It's not overly popular, so you won't see yourself everywhere.  Except for the metallic jeggings - nearly everyone who reads the blog, bought them!  See previous blog: http://dressmegc.blogspot.com.au/2012/08/im-blaming-christian-grey.html

The Vanessa Top is $149 and has a 'V' on the back with a leather clip. Love it.  It comes in Blood Orange, black and pale lemon.

Inez Collier
$59-
The Penelope Sequin Tank is $169. The sequins are on an angle giving the top a nice edge. There is a similar one in a 'latte' colour. Both very nice. Well worth a viewing I say!

Accessories at SABA are very cool.  They are reasonably priced. Saba accessories remind me of when Mimco used to have great accessories before they outpriced themselves with expensive junk.

Colette Cuff
$49-
Saba Elle Jegging $169-
Black Pants: Saba has a great pair of plain jegging style, but not cheap fabric. They look good on and give your legs, bottom, etc... good shape.  There is also a cropped version.

For a limited time SABA has FREE domestic shipping and in store today was an offer of 25% off if you bought two items. I don't think the offer was limited to today only.

Dress Me GC could have bought big, but I had to meet The Love of My Life after my shopping and I had nowhere to hide the bags!

MOC - Max of colour!
For my dear friend
 from school.
Love your pink dress and hair!
You make me smile everytime I see you!

 Competition:

The Swimmable Underwear from Underwear of Sweden will be drawn on Monday and you have a one in twenty chance of winning a $100 pair of Swimmers! All you have to do is become a follower of Dress Me GC via Google.  Good Luck - and please become a follower! http://underwearofsweden.com.au/home/

One more sleep until the Brewery Bash at Byron Bay! I am VERY excited.  Yes I will drink water - ok I'll try!

Silly Season

Be Prepared

Seed
Ocelot Top
$59.95

Get your wardrobe in order
Get your 'maintenance' in order

Wardrobe:
  • Make sure your clothes are ironed, dry cleaned, altered and are fresh ready to go. I LOVE Ironing Plus at Chirn Park: http://www.ironingplus.com.au/
  • Get your shoes polished and cleaned. Having an amazing outfit on and dirty/scuffed shoes is not a good look.
  • Handbags need to be aired and dusted.
  • Have a small toiletry bag in your bathroom with band-aids, small can hair spray, lip gloss, blister thingos and whatever you think you'll need (within reason - don't cart around too much crap) ready to go.
  • Put your clothes on timber hangers.

Seed
Lurex sweater
$99.95

Maintenance:

- Get your hair colour done etc...
- Make sure your GHD straighteners, hair dryer etc...is working
- Get your nails shellac - ed. Check price first. Heard a horror story about being charged $200 for shellac nails on fingers and toes (I think the polish was gold)!
- Book in for a spray tan if you need one. Get your waxing done while you are there.

Seed

Is making me very happy at the moment, and the love of my life very unhappy.  What's new?  The Lurex sweater is heaps nicer in real life.  Same goes for the  Seed Ocelot top.  It comes in different colours is light and comfy to wear. It's long and goes with skinny leg jeans or leggings...  Both of these tops are super nice with the CR white coated jegging or the white 5 pocket jeans.

Louche Sequin top
from Toscana.
The 40th at The Stone & Wood Brewery:

Have organised to offload the kids, aaccommodation booked, keep repeating the mantra: "must remember to drink water.." and on it goes...   But all that aside, what do I wear?

The Birthday Boy and I worked for the same company once selling beer.  We had great fun! The best part about working with him was that he had a really cool wife!We had even more fun!
The Birthday boy scored top billing on Melbourne Cup Day: See previous blog: http://dressmegc.blogspot.com.au/2012/11/happy-melbourne-cup.html

I sent a text message to the really cool wife the other day about what to wear and I can't print the response, but it was expected from a mother who works full time and kept me very entertained!  Love it! Lol!

Lamb & Hide
Clutch
Basically it's a day/night thing.  So I'm thinking CR white jeggings, and a semi sequin top (maybe the louche one I bought  from Toscana, that I have lived in)?

I'll see how I feel on Saturday morning. The best part about having my wardrobe and maintenance sorted is that I can choose on the day. I am organised - At least I will be after tomorrow's hair cut.  Which could be a disaster for The Love of My Life.  The hairdresser, Belynda,  is also the Lamb & Hide handbag designer and I love to shop!  https://www.facebook.com/#!/LambAndHide?fref=ts

Beautifully Dressed GC Girls.

Without following Tacky Trends

One of Last weeks Blog titled "Frock Horror" http://dressmegc.blogspot.com.au/2012/11/frock-horror.html had me quite dismayed about how the GC girls dress, because some of the girls around town look fantastic!

I've always loved how on the GC you can get dressed "to the nines" and go out just because you feel like it!  I lived in Cairns, FNQ a few years ago (ok, maybe a bit more, but I am still the same age as when I lived there), and we had to wait for the Cairns Amateurs every year to get dressed up!

In hindsight, it was probably good it was only once a year, because it took me that long to pay off the Covers or George Gross Suit!! Lol!

So I have got some proof and Dress Me GC can show you some pics to prove it!  Here is The Swimmer from The Noosa Tri looking amazing at her Step Daughters School Formal. The shoes don't match technically, but they really do (if that makes sense?), teamed with the matching belt and Witchery clutch.  I am very impressed.  You look stunning. Have a great night.  The Swimmer in a previous blog: http://dressmegc.blogspot.com.au/2012/11/thumbs-up-or-down-for-nicole.html

Miss B: The Belle of the Ball! I am blown away seeing Miss B dressed so beautifully.  You look so confident and happy. Cheers to you Miss B. Have a great night and enjoy yourself.

Absolutely Stunning
Megan Gale.

Coast Confidential

Had Dress Me GC VERY happy this morning.  Gold Coast Bulletin Columinists Regina King and Peter Flowers best dressed for the week was the beautiful Megan Gale.  One Word: WOW!  Megan was at a Melbourne Cup function at Versace and looked absolutely beautiful.

My photo is a photo from the paper so it doesn't do Megan justice, but you get the idea.  I did try to find it on www.goldcoast.com, but it wasn't there.

Seed Femme
Bubble Lurex Tee
$59.95
Metallic Lovers need to see the new Seed Femme Top: Bubble Lurex Tee.  It's so similiar to the Country Road metallic top, but it's only $59.95, and the back isn't as low.  The CR one sold out and so will the Seed Femme so don't delay. It's also in black.

There is a Whopping 40th at Byron Bay this Saturday and I am nervous thinking about it - it's at a Brewery! Dress Me GC can't behave at home with a bottle of Giesen, so apart from "What do I wear?", I'm thinking the worst...I know myself well!  I have spent all week reminding myself about drinking water.  Sad thing is, I've been reminding myself about that for the last 20 years!!!   Whatever, ..."Talk to the Hand", "I Know Boats", and I am so excited about it!

Become a follower - PLEASE, and you could win $100 swimwear from Underwear of Sweden.

Talk Tomorrow.

P.S Thank-you for being part of Dress Me GC. You are good people, and your involvement is appreciated more than you know. Cheers.

The draw will take place on Monday at Dress Me GC Headquarters, with the winner announced on Mondays blog.  Good Luck.

 Axel Mano Hats

Axel Mano
"Cuenca" $549-

Are available at Toscana, Chevron Island.  They are the nicest hats and are an investment. They are not cheap, but in my opinion are worth every cent. They are very very nice, very comfortable and look fantastic.

Speaking of Hats,

Milliner Danielle Statham was invited to enter the Millinery Award at Oaks Day last week, judged by Phillip Treacy.   Danielles work is absolutley stunning with 1003 hand stitched crystals.  Well done Danielle.  Thank-you for representing the Gold Coast with style.
