Full Time Taxi Driver.

Should have stayed in Bed!

Left home at 8:30 this morning and walked back in the door at 6:30pm.  I think I was in the car for most of it!  Even with my mobile office (the ipad), I didn't get to do anything I needed to do. There were lampshades to deliver, one sick 8 year old (now called con artist because he was NOT sick) to collect from sick bay, and blah blah......

I didn't get to Target either!! Yes I am a full time Taxi Driver.  I'm so glad Love of My Life and I had four children - we are blessed (vomit)!

But in case you are feeling sorry for me, I'll show you a photo of how it finished.  Life Saver and BFF neighbour to the rescue - AGAIN!

Josephine and Sophie are Stars and Winners!

Your comments, feedback and general chit chat from the last blog http://dressmegc.blogspot.com.au/2012/10/cant-say-s-word-sss.html have made me the happiest Taxi Driver ever!  Dress Me GC is all about shopping chit chat, buying, spending, missing that bargain, going out, and communicating together.  Both of you are kilometres apart geographically so it's very cool to see you sharing info online.

Henderson Chilli
Tomato Relish.
You are winners!  Please email your addresses to: dressmegc@gmail.com and Dress Me GC Headquarters has a jar of the World Famous Henderson Chilli Tomato Relish heading your way. https://www.facebook.com/#!/HendersonChilliTomatoRelish?fref=ts

Congratulations to Josephine and Sophie! If your Roberto Cavalli purchases aren't right and you need to sell them, maybe you could comment on the blog and those of us who missed out may be in with a chance?

With Thomas. Mmmm...less
Sake for me next Wedding.
Halloween has become huge.

I am not a fan. The kids on the other hand are,  and have had a great night terrorising the neighbours. They are thrilled and happy that they get praised for their normal woeful behaviour!

It is also my little brothers birthday. Happy Birthday Thomas.  Thomas lives in Japan with with his beautiful wife Chiharu.

Did you know I went to Japan to visit them? http://dressmegc.blogspot.com.au/2012/07/the-hijack-shopper.html

With my cousin..definately
NO Sake next time!
It is defiantly time to head back to Japan and find those boots!! If anyone is interested maybe Dress Me GC could organise a shopping trip?

Can't say the "S" word! S..S...S..

But I can manage..."I may have been wrong"...

Plastic shoes at
Country Road.
About the plastic shoes.  Dress Me GC has been inundated with photos of womens feet and plastic shoes.  That's because it's mutiny against Dress Me GC and my comments from a blog last week: http://dressmegc.blogspot.com.au/2012/10/swimable-underwear.html
Nadine looking
 good in THE shoes.

Thanks Nadine for the winning photo! Nadine is one of the most stylish women on the GC, and I have to admit, (although it's killing me...) that they do look good.  So the glitter gladiator style from the late 80's early 90's are OUT, and the new style are in.

The penny should have dropped when my friend Sheryl came back from Italy months ago and gave me the tip that plastic shoes are IN!

These Moschino shoes are on sale at ASOS:

Horse Racing Attire.

The Racing Issue - Part 2

CelebBoutique
'Carrie' Cream
Strapless Peplum
 Dress $178-
It's just over a week until the Melbourne Cup Day.  I hope you have your outfits ready.  If not, it's not too late....

I have been in touch with Fashion Stylist and Presenter Lise Carlaw from Re: MY Style, and found this webpage:  http://celebboutique.com/carrie-cream-strapless-peplum-dress-en.html  The dresses are fantastic and are well priced.  There are so many of them, it's hard to know where to start.

French Connection
peplum dress $129-
Don't forget that Target and Kmart and Coles Mix have some great dresses too.  If you aren't going out on Melbourne Cup Day and you are watching the races at a girlfriends with the kids make sure you get 'frocked up'.  It's always more fun!

French Connection has a plain black Peplum Dress for $129, that is easy to wear and can be teamed with black shoes, black flower or fascinator and a coloured clutch.

Derby Day

Is this Saturday!  Everyone seems to be going. Everyone but me. We are Noosa bound as I am doing the run leg of the Noosa Tri with two of my girlfriends. Love of My Life is wondering how he gets to drive to Noosa on Derby Day - One of the biggest days of the Racing Calender. He is horse racing mad.

Wedding Day, Derby Day 1997.

I can't understand how he is baffled? He should have realised when we got married on Derby Day!  His wedding speech was basically his Melbourne Cup tips and a comment about the Bridesmaids in Doriemus's colours! I'll share a photo with you. It's quite funny (and cringe worthy), how bad the whole thing is! Haven't times changed in 15 years! lol!

Sold for $650!
Simply The Breast is over! My Gawdy Girl sold for $110.  I was quite happy with that until my besties's went for a whopping $650!  Her torso is very, very good and incomparable with mine!  AND this photo was taken before the finishing touches were applied!  It's been a good fun event with around $10,000 raised for Breast Cancer.
See previous Blog:  "Simply The Breast" http://dressmegc.blogspot.com.au/2012/10/simply-breast.html

Oh and the BIG news.... I got an IPAD!
Yes Dress Me GC Headquarters now has a mobile office!  Love of my LIfe finally caved in after my whingeing! The power of the blog! lol!

Off & Racing!

Regina King.

The Racing Issue - Part 1

Danielle Statham showcased her latest collection at Toscana last night.  It was amazing. The work and detail involved in the making of her pieces are second to none.  The prices were reasonable too. Having done Millinery I know the amount of work involved.

Have a look  at Danielles website: http://daniellestatham.com.au/ or ring Judith at Toscana: 07 5538 3330.

With Milliner
Danielle Statham
Danielle has just returned from Paris spending time with one of the oldest couture flower artisans in France. Danielle also worked with Milliners in France who have worked with Diana, Princess of Wales, and HRH her Majesty the Queen and the Queen Mother.  The Millinery artworks Danielle created have been bought back to Australia for sale in the "once upon a time collection" for Spring 2012.

Last nights showing at Toscana was perfect and was both professional and intimate.  All the headpieces in these photos are Danielles work.  My photos do not do them justice. And yes I do look lop-sided (and fat) in the photo. Blogger I am - Model I am not!

If you are going to Melbourne

For the any of the races, make sure you have two outfits planned. A summer one and a winter one. Love of my life and I went with friends a few years ago and the temperature didn't go over 14 degrees all day. It was freezing. The summer dress and strappy heels got the flick and I ended up in knee high boots, big black jacket etc... It didn't matter....after a few champagnes I thought I looked fantastic!  Watching the horses thundering down the straight and seeing the crowds rise to their feet was one experience I will never forget.

No matter what you do on Melbourne Cup Day make sure you wear comfortable shoes. Remember the "Vanity overrides Practicality" blog? http://dressmegc.blogspot.com.au/2012/10/vanity-overrides-practicality.html.  Don't do it on Cup Day. No matter how much you love the shoes or how good they go with the outfit, if you can't walk in them - ditch them!

The Simply the Breast cocktail party is on tomorrow night.  I hope my Gawdy Girl is still holding up! lol!  I'll let you know what she goes for - if she goes! lol!

Swimmable Underwear has arrived at Dress Me GC Headquarters - I'm busting to try them on!

Shop Within Your Wardrobe.

It's not Retail Therapy...

Sass & Bide
Read the Instructions
top: $290-
But it is a good idea.  Regular follower Josephine sent me an email titled "Shop within your Wardrobe".    Anyway it goes for the month of October - yes I know it is the end of October - but I suppose you can do it anytime.  How many times have you given clothes away, seen the benefactor wearing them and thought "that looks good - why did I give that away?"   Here's the link: http://ymlp.com/zDAdNk  Have a look.  You never know - you may revive an old "fave" and save some money.

Speaking of saving money...

DON'T look at the latest offering from Sass & Bide!  It is so good.  In the past I have thought that Sass & Bide was a bit "out there", however that has changed. I am loving their colour and design.  It's not cheap, but you will look good! http://www.sassandbide.com/eboutique/new-arrivals.html

Sass & Bide
"Pick your Take"
Tank $250-

The "Read the Instructions" top (my favourite) would look fantastic with black skinny legs jeans and heels, and the "Pick your Take" tank would also look good with your black skinnys or pink pants and wedges.

Tonight at Toscana

Danielle Statham is showing her selection of Fine Headwear and Millinery pieces.  I'll be taking lots of photos to show you tomorrow.  I'll make sure the photos are taken before the champagne starts. Here is a sneak peek:   http://daniellestatham.com.au/

Don't forget! Tomorrow is a "Melbourne Cup Special" Blog.

I caught a helicopter from Sea World to The Gold Coast Turf Club once! The chopper landed in the middle of the track and we (four of us) got out with everyone staring at us like we were celebrities and us thinking we were! lol!

We had to walk from the middle of the track to the members stand and on the way we had to climb under the track railings! OMG! We went from thinking we were celebs 'dressed to the nines' with hats on, heels, handbags etc... to scrambling under the railings on the track with hats falling off, dresses around our waists, shoes off - you get the picture?- doing the limbo! I can imagine people in the stands were in hysterics!  Not so glamorous after all!

Swimmable Underwear.

Look what I stumbled across on facebook last night?

Swimmable Underwear from UNDERWEAR of SWEDEN!

It's basically Undies and Bra that you wear under your clothes AND you can swim in! I think it sounds fantastic!  So fantastic I've ordered mine and asked the company for more info so Dress Me GC readers can hear all about it!  We may even be able to convince them to do a promo of some sort?!

Watch this space and as soon as I know more I'll share the news. In the meantime have a look at their website: http://underwearofsweden.com.au/home/index.php?route=product/category&path=238

Plastic shoes at
Country Road.

Plastic Shoes - Yes or No?

I say no, but am thinking I'm in the minority.  They are everywhere! Reminds me of the fluro craze - it's everywhere!   At Country Road today they had a whole display stand of them.  Seed Femme has them - Even (shock horror) Tods have plastic shoes!

Years ago when living in Cairns I knew a girl who wore them when they were called "Jellies" or "Jelly's" or whatever!  My flatmates called her "toiletbrush" - something to do with her being tall, skinny and a big mop of hair!  Anyway "toiletbrush" wore plastic shoes. I suppose the style wasn't like it is now. They were kind of ugly gladiator style shoes made out of plastic glitter. Whatever they were I did not like them then and I'm not so sure my opinion has changed.  Maybe I just don't like the feel of plastic shoes?

Johnny Was shirts have been ordered.

Thanks to everyone who ordered. Dress Me GC will shout the postage within Australia when the order arrives.  How exciting - I'm busting for the mail man to arrive!

If you buy Tods Shoes:

Tods Brogue Boot
This is an o/s website my aunt uses and swears by. It's called Far Fetch. Have a look and if you're feeling generous, I'd love the brogue boot for Christmas. lol! http://www.farfetch.com/shopping/women/tods/shoes-1/items.aspx?oby=5&cur=USD&bfdqbt=tods%20shoes]&gclid=CLWa3uyKmbMCFedKpgodZCYAAA#ps=1&pv=60&oby=5

I bought a "H"

True to Form....I'm shopping....on Facebook!

The Letter "H"
Today is the day to fold clothes, iron, sell anything that's not put away on ebay, and as it turns out, buy the letter "H" on facebook!  Shopoholic I am, and I love it!

My eldest son will probably look at me like "I've lost the plot" when my latest purchase arrives, but that's nothing new in our house.  All four of them give me that look! Helen from Sivad designs constantly puts "things" up on her facebook page, and I constantly like and buy her "things"!

Have a look for yourself: https://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Sivad-Designs/342420708848?fref=ts

Liz Hamilton. Photo courtesy of
The Gold Coast Bulletin.

Speaking of Facebook...

There is a storm surrounding MP Amanda Fazio and her controversial tirade regarding Gold Coast businesswoman Liz Hamilton.  Liz is the long-time partner of Tweed MP Geoff Provst.

"Geoff Provest has a date that looks like a retired B-grade porn star," Ms Fazio posted to her 135 Facebook friends.
http://www.goldcoast.com.au/article/2012/10/23/440320_gold-coast-news.html

I have known Liz personally for approximately 15 years and think MP Amanda Fazio is way out of line.  Liz has always taken the time to dress appropriately.  I remember asking her one day about her corporate suits and Liz told me that she always wrote in her diary what suit she wore to what function so there was never a double up.  Take a bow Liz - you are a lovely lady and I hope the negative remark works in your favour.

Sandal Shopping:

Watson x Watson
Tassle Sandal $230-
Senso Gina Sandal $199
After my fave pair of Seed Femme black sandals broke on Saturday night, I think I have to have these. Watson x Watson Tassle sandals. Actually I need these. Justified. Just like that! They aren't cheap, but they are very nice. $230 at Joy Hysteric.  Joy Hysteric also has Senso sandals coming soon that are very very nice....Have a look....
With cup hooks - lousy picture,
but you get the idea.

Will order the Johnny Was Shirt tomorrow so if you are deliberating...don't delay! dressmegc@gmail.com.au

One Timber Christmas Tree went to Palm Beach today so let me know if you want one.  I can put cup hooks on your tree before its painted so you can decorate it if you want?  Have a look at the picture. I spotted this one in a real estate agent while walking the dog in Main Beach at night.

Melbourne Cup is around the corner - I'll show you hats and fascinators on Friday's blog.

Start Your Engines!

The girls at The BBQ.

The GC600 is in Town!

It's Party Time on the GC!  CUT!
That was Fridays blog!  I didn't get too far did I? Dress Me GC headquarters is one block from the GC100 track and we got caught up in the excitement.

Thanks to The Gold Coast Bulletin and Speed Cafe http://www.speedcafe.com/ we won a three day pass for two people to the event, which includes the concerts so it's been a very big week-end.  Not so big in a party way - more exhausting going back and forth between the track, concerts, beach etc.. with the kids.

Managed a BBQ with some girlfriends on Saturday evening - don't they look good?  All with their own style.  I was having a great time there before The Love My Life dragged me out - probably a good thing in hindsight. It was one of those occassions where a few glasses of red wine and I felt like I'd had a few bottles!   We headed over to the Good Charlotte Concert, but my sandal broke and so I headed home, looking very glam with one shoe on and one shoe off! Again probably a good thing in hindsight!

Track side. Seed Femme Gotta Have it tank,
Lisa Brown Sorts, Jamin Puech handbag,
Country Road hat and Metallic Birkenstocks.
Seed Femme's Gotta Have It Tank Top went everywhere I did. See previous blog: "And the winner is..."  At $79.95 - you can't go wrong. I wore the pink one under my louche singlet top (from Toscana)to the Friday night concerts and the same pink one with cream Lisa Brown shorts (from Toscana) trackside on Sunday. I throw it in the machine on a silk cycle, hang it on a hanger, and it's ready to go without ironing.  http://www.seedheritage.com/tops/gotta-have-it-tank/w1/i2663375_1001329/.  They are in seven different colours.

The Lisa Brown shorts are cream and are from last year, however they have been redone and are in store at Toscana (07 5538 3330) again this year.

Johnny Was Lacey
V-neck Tank. $199-
Johnny Was has a top that I blogged about back in August "Summer Sneakies & Winter Wannabies". http://dressmegc.blogspot.com.au/2012/08/summer-sneakies-and-winter-wannabes.html.  I saw it in store last week  for $299.  It's online from America for $199 and the postage is $50.
http://www.johnnywas.com/clothing/lacey-v-neck-tank.html

It is a beautiful top and is even nicer on. I am going to order mine tomorrow so if you want one let me know. The postage is cheaper if I do one order. Contact me at: dressmegc@gmail.com.au.

10,000 PLUS!

Champagne Time!

The Masterpiece -
 One Very Gawdy Lampshade!
Dress Me GC has had over 10,000 page views.  Thank-you very much for your company and your loyalty.  I hope the blog helps with your Retail Therapy.    It's good fun blogging for you so take a seat, grab a coffee or wine and Enjoy.

For some reason the bloody comment thingo on this blog is not working and the feedback from all of you is complete frustration! The news is that I haven't got a clue what is going wrong and because I am hoping (fingers crossed) we go "Live" with the new site this week-end  I'm not even attempting to fix it! Unless a reader know a quick fix? Please?

As you can see Simply The Breast is still demanding top billing. That's ok - it's a good cause. I am happy to report that The Masterpiece has been completed!  Yahoo! It's a pink lady with a hat on and it actually does have a bulb in it that does turn on! As Miss Six would say - "For Real!"  And she has an Angel necklace around her neck for company.

The cocktail party is next week-end, however they are on display at The Pines Shopping Centre, Elanora.  I'll keep you updated on its progress.

Spend & Save is on at Country Road and Witchery.

It's a good chance to get some extras for your summer wardrobe.  The extra discount also helps with the justification of Retail Therapy. lol!  All I need is shorts so that's my mission.  I think CR has free postage for VIP customers.

Toscana

I can't keep away.  It's the sequins. Love. Love. Love! Yes, you've seen this photo in last weeks blog: http://dressmegc.blogspot.com.au/2012/10/vanity-overrides-practicality.html but trust me the Louche singlet is to die for. You can wear it with shorts around town or dressed up with jeans at night! Don't delay - they are selling like hotcakes.  Lisa Brown is also a must have with new pieces arriving weekly.  Judith has a great relationship with Lisa, so you can generally get the best Lisa Brown (stock wise and fitting/stylist help) at Toscana!  See previous Blog: http://dressmegc.blogspot.com.au/2012/08/its-miracle.html

GANT Multi-stripe Dress $469-
The Gant Dress from yesterday got you excited. It's $469.  I can't see it online, however, it's in store at Marina Mirage. I spoke to Karen-Lea at the Gant shop at Marina Mirage and it is available and can be bought over the phone.  Their number is:  (07) 55 312811.

Shopping Anonymous.

What do you think?

Life Saver and BFF neighbour
looking very glam after a day at work
in the corporate world.

Everytime I blog that I am only shopping when I need something I spend more than ever so I have decided to form Shopping Anonymous.  I mentioned it to a girlfriend this afternoon and got the "Mmmm..."

"Mmmm..."? What is "Mmmm.."?

So I pursued.... and finally it came out that she thinks it is a waste of time: "Knowing you, we'd all drink way to much wine, eat too much cheese and biscuits, and talk about shopping, and spend more than ever!"  There you go - No Shopping Anonymous.  Back to shopping...Ahhh...

GANT window at
Marina Mirage.

The GANT window at Marina Mirage caught my eye.  How nice is the dress? Then I spotted Life Saver and BFF neighbour perfecting the look after a day of presenting at a conference. How good is this look? Fresh, clean, great POC and none of that corporate suit crap. Take a bow - you look fantastic.

Toscana Organza Bag $59-

Toscana Organza Bag.

At $59 I recommend you ring Judith, Sheryl, Liz, or Dawn and get one for yourself or as a gift for someone. They are big and are in different patterns.

The Masterpiece -
A work in Progress.

Simply the Breast...

Is under construction...

Thanks to my Amazing Mother in Law. Remember these kind words about my Mother in Law, because despite the fact I am lucky enough to have one that loves me like her three sons, it's a sport to bag them, so that's about as nice as I'll get!

The spray painting is my work. You'll get to see her work tomorrow.

If there is one product I can recommend:

It's the Natio Lip Shine. Most Chemists sell it, or you can buy it online. It's $11.95 and comes in different colours. I have a few of them in different handbags, the car, kitchen, bottom of the pram (you get it) etc....

Simply The Breast!

No it's not a spelling mistake.

Simply The Breast Torso.
Breast Cancer fund raising and awareness is taking over at Dress Me GC Headquarters.  How it works is that you pay $25 for a blank torso, and then you have to turn it into a piece of art. The masterpiece is then put on display at The Pines Shopping Centre, Elanora http://www.thepineselanora.com.au/  and on Saturday 27th October there is a cocktail party at The Tugan Surf Club, where the masterpieces are auctioned off.

Simply The Breast
completed Torso.
The torso has sat in my bedroom for about 2 months now and it has to be handed in on Friday - insert swear word.  Things got worse when I saw a completed torso - insert stacks more swearing.  Nothing like a bit of pressure!

Mother in Law to the rescue.  I have decided to turn my masterpiece in to something practical, so hopefully the poor champagne affected punter (let's face it - nobody will buy it sober) who bids on mine will actually be able to use it.  It is going to be a lampshade.  Ta Da! The electrician has 'done the wiring' and now it's up to me and my wonderful Mother in Law to complete the job. Watch this space.

Shopping:

Ice London Print
Singlet $20-
Here are some singlets to look out for:

Just look at the singlet
(not me) -  $25 from Ice.
I stumbled across Ice at Australia Fair.  They have some pretty groovy tops that are very reasonably priced.  Its well worth a look - if you can survive the loud music!

I bought the creamy white singlet with gold bling cross for $25.  The London Singlet is good with denim shorts. I wear a cami singlet underneath. They are $9 at Target. Ice has some good cheap pieces.  Some of it is a bit tacky so be careful.

Here is the link: http://www.icedesign.com.au/top-cross.html for the online shoppers.

Following on from yesterdays blog..
