Fluro - for or against?

FLURO! It's everywhere this Spring/Summer.  I put it in the category of the floral pants.  I am not against it, however I am not sure it's for me.  With a risk of repeating myself,  just because it's the latest and greatest it doesn't mean it's for me.

The fluro trend gives me the horrors from way back when my BFF Sheridan wore black tights, an oversized white t-shirt with CHOOSE LIFE on it in fluro and matching fluro socks.  I hated that look then!

At the party on the week-end Helen had the fluro thing going and she actually had me thinking I could give it a go?  She had all black on and teamed it up with a fluro yellow skull ring, bronze and fluro yellow earrings and black heels with a fluro yello band on the sole.  I liked it, because it wasn't fashion victim stuff.  Helen looked like she knew what was in fashion without trying too hard.  It was a nice suttle way of following the latest trend.

Seed www.seedheritage.com have mixed animal print with fluro on sandals and it's ok.  Actually I quite like them, however I have about 100 pairs of sandals from the last two seasons that I have hardly worn, so the thought of buying more shoes is not that appealing. However I suppose if I really LOVED them I'd buy them?  I do however love the matching clutches.

So I suppose it's nice to have a bit of colour for summer, just don't over do it. Please.

Monday

The party was fantastic and yes I did miss Jim.  I decided to drink red wine instead of champagne with the theory that it would "slow me down".  Dont try it folks, it doesn't work - in fact it did the opposite as I (cringeing badly as I type) not only sung, I also danced! Oh the horror of the flashbacks!!!

I was happy with my outfit and can give it another airing this week-end as it's my sisiters 40th birthday dinner. The Lisa Brown Georgie Origami pants are very comfortable.  They are on ebay at the moment starting at around $80.  Not bad as the RRP is $372 in stores. www.ebay.com.au

I am a big fan of ebay and have bought and sold on ebay for nearly ten years.  I have some lovely regular customers, who most of the time get some pretty good clothes without spending alot of money.

Speaking of bargains....Witchery has a great offers. At the moment Witchery card holders get $200 off when they spent $500. www.witchery.com.au   Its pretty good as you can basically get most summer essentials for $300. I bought the gypsy blouse in white $99 (it also comes in green) and wore it on the week-end. Its good with a basic scoop cami under it, coming into Spring/Summer. The best thing about it is I washed it and hung it on a coathanger and it didn't need ironing.

Which leads me to looking after your clothes:  Always hang your clothes on timber coat hangers. Just get a few each week with the groceries, and before long you'll have enough. I'm very fussy with washing and make sure every load has napisan and softly, and the whites go seperately and the blacks in Radiant black wash. There is no point spending money on clothes and not looking after them.

Outlet Shopping.

Tomorrow night we have been invited to a party! A pretty flash party with tepinyaki chefs, Karaoke and of course my favourite - lots of Champagne (can I write free - be honest, everyone thinks it?)!

These hosts are the party gurus and they had a party the same time last year, however they themed it "Aussie Bogan".  Amazing to think we have been invited back for the second year in a row, and I am pretty sure that is because Jim had such a good time it made the rest of us look well behaved. Gotta love friends like Jim!

So last year I went to Harbour Town Outlet shopping and bought a flannelette shirt, a foul pair of black knee high ugg boots etc...and off we went!  Great night had by all - except the bit about us girls thinking it VERY funny to text our trainer a photo of us drinking champagne and giving him the finger (I know, but it all seemed so funny at the time), and him completely annihilating us with a fitness evaluation when we turned up on Monday!

Now this year is different.  No the Olympics aren't starting, the family doesn't need feeding, the washing can wait....I am working on my outfit for Saturday night! I've got Lisa Brown pants, Lisa Brown top (both from Toscana), Witchery clutch, Peter Lang earrings, and NO SHOES!  So back to Harbour Town this morning and Bingo - Mimco has saved the day! Except for the bit about the price.  Am I the only person who goes outlet shopping and buys the most expensive pair of shoes there?

Anyway I don't really care, because I felt so much better leaving Harbour Town with a pair of Mimco heels than I did with those feryl ugg boots I bought last year!  P.s I'll post some photos on Monday and let you know how the party goes - Jims away working so I'm nervous!

The Hijack Shopper

Yep we all know one and have probably been one ourselves.  Last December I headed to Japan for my brothers Wedding (get used to this Japan talk - It's the only time I have left Australia in the past 10 years and probably the last so I'll milk it for all it's worth)!

Our first day in Tokyo we headed to Shinjuku.  As I was travelling with my two sisters we could not get to the shops fast enough, however Lisa had decided that as she had NO boots and it was freezing it was going to be all about her...enter The Hijack Shopper...

So Lisa got boots and Deborah and I still talk about the one that got away! Yep I have searched all of Brisbane and the Gold Coast trying to replicate those knee-hi tan boots and have had no luck because I can't get the ones from Japan (yes I went to Japan) out of my head!!

Which brings me to another issue.  Why the bloody hell did I not write down the brand or at the very least take a photo of them so I could see if my brother could get them for me?   Instead I have a cupboard full of boots, shoes and whatever I thought may suffice and they are not filling that void. Lucky there is ebay and I can offload some of them to recoup some money and make me feel a little better!  http://www.styletread.com.au/catalogsearch/result/?q=walnut+boots&sa=

Confidence in wearing the "latest and greatest" trends.

Ok, the floral print pants and jackets are everywhere.  The big question is can I wear it?  I am not excited about them. Is it because I wore them last time they were the "latest and greatest" and I feel like I am a 41 year old mother of 4 trying to look 31?  Or is it because I think I will look like a garden from Toowoomba's Carnival of Flowers! Or is it because they are not black and will probably make my legs bigger than normal?

In saying this my girlfriend Kaz wore a pair last Friday night and looked pretty good.  Im thinking that just because they are the "latest and greatest" it doesn't mean they are for me.  Sometimes it's fashion victim stuff wearing the "latest and greatest" and looking really bad and sometimes it's just a bit of confidence to wear something thats well, not black!  Who knows maybe I may warm to them over summer.... http://thejoystores.com/collections/pants

The Sequin Dress.

Last week Toscana Boutique  http://toscanaonline.com.au/about.php  had a sale on Lisa Brown clothes.  I suggested the beautiful sequin dress to a girlfriend and my sister.  My girlfriend tried hers on in store and looked stunning - She is ready for her do!   I mailed the pink one (the left one) to my sister for her function and she rang this afternoon to say disaster!

It's not often I get things wrong with dressing my sisters. Anyway the good news is I love the dress and will be shopping for shoes to match as I am going to the same function.  Now it's back to the shops to find her something to wear......

Shopping Parties

lambandhide.com.au
I have few of these bags and after lots of comments and queries decided to have a party showing these bags over the week-end. They were very popular and a huge success (so was the wine)!  The girls were pretty excited to buy "one off" handbags and accessories without spending a fortune. Check out their website.
